Covid-19 Information

The spread of COVID-19 requires our community to demonstrate our very best qualities: to use good judgment in responding to changing circumstances, to prioritize the greater good of the community above personal preference or convenience, and to use HEART skills in all interactions, whether face-to-face or long-distance. Recommendations from Public Health Authorities are fluid; therefore, keeping up to date in our communication is vital. We have assembled the information we have shared within the community and provide it here:

  • A log of letters sent to our school families
  • Steps we are taking to prevent the spread of illness
  • Information from Public Health Authorities

In compliance with Governor Brown's directive, Abiqua will be closed Monday, March 16 2020 through Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Families should watch for electronic communication from school administration and teachers. Information regarding child care will be communicated soon. The school building will be accessible on a limited bases.

As always, we ask that students and employees remain home if exhibiting signs of illness: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, frequent sneezing, heavy cough, or difficulty breathing. Students should remain home a full day (24 hours) after symptoms have subsided, including no fever for 24 hours without medication. Please do not come to campus if you or your student is experiencing any coronavirus symptoms described by the CDC.

Additionally, we request that all people refrain from visiting campus if they have traveled in or had close contact with anyone who has traveled to/in any country with a CDC Warning Level 3 or higher within the past 14 days. This list currently includes China, Italy, South Korea, and Iran.

Please be assured that Abiqua Administrators are closely monitoring the status of COVID-19. We will remain in frequent communication with families as we work through the complexities caused by the effects of the virus.

All Abiqua Academy teachers are committed to maintaining personal relationships with our students. K-12 instructors are preparing recorded lessons through our Griffin Flex Academy.
